I will be visiting your area fourth of July weekend. My wife wants to visit a beach or two. Where should I consider?

Northern NC or southern NC?

Driving from Winston Area. Yes a long drive but 4 hours is not too far in Colorado.....

The northern area to me is much nicer(OBX area), but will probably add a good 3+ hours to your drive. It takes us about about 3 hours, if I remember correctly to get to the Outer Banx. There's several area's that you can drive on the beach as well. The Wilmington area is nice as well. I went down to Carolina Beach a few weeks ago. There are 2 area's where you can drive on the beach there.

If you have time drive down to Cape Hatteras, there is Beach access all up and down the island.
You can also take the (free Ferry) over to Ocracoke Island, and you can access the beach there also. Before you go, you may want to check
out the NCBBA web site @ http://www.ncbba.org. There have been a lot of ramps/access points closed due to Hurricane Isabel, or once you get
there check with the NPS, and they can tell you
where you can and can't go. There is also a lot of discussion on a couple of the local Tackle shops Forums about the beach/ramp closures. If you want any of the links to the tackle shops PM me and I will send you some links.

Thanks for all the information. Made our flight plans for the trip. Probably not taking a rental car on any beaches. Maybe if the job happens, I canhit beaches, URE, etc....

Would be interesting to go four wheeling outside Colorado and Utah. Not a dig or anything, just having done my trips within 6 hours of home.

We will have to see how the summer job search works out.. smile
