If you have a winch what is your set-up?? Meaning what kind of winch, battery, alternator, or anyother kind of mod you may of had to do besides a bumper to get your winch the power it needs..

I have a MileMarker winch and an optima yellow top with Calmini bumper. Nothing else and works great.

Warn 9.5 XP...just bolted it to the bumper, ran the wires to the battery and ground, and it worked.

I had already upgraded to a Optima yellow....and I later added a remote solinoid plug to the top of the bumper to avoid reaching to hook up the control.

I'm still running on the crappy 80 amp OEM alternator that refuses to die.



I also swapped out the wire rope and roller fairlead to run synthetic winch rope and an aluminum fairlead, saved 45 lb.

I've got a Warn M8000 winch mounted on the Shrockworks bumper and I'm running a Optima yellow top battery.

I got a Warn XD9000i mounted in my Shrock bumper (feet first). I am running AmSteel Blue Synthetic line, a self closing hook and an aluminum hawse fairlead. I am currently running the stock battery, but will be looking at an Excide Orbital soon.

Warn M8000 in an ARB bumper with a Hawse fairlead. Alternator is stock and battery is a 750 CCA Optima yellow top.

I have the same bumper, and battery. I have the Harbor Freight / Chicago Electric 9k winch.. a direct rip off for the milemaker.. Mine looked like that 2 years ago.. The Zip Tie of the left is CRITICAL.. without it the electronics wiggle enough to fail the mounting plate at the 2 bolts to the winch body.

I have a 9k T-max on a shrock bumper with optima yellow top.

How much have you used your T-Max? I am looking to go T-Max on my 05, as big as I can stuff in the Shrock Bumper. Also want that bad A$$ remote.

MM8000 on an ARB bumper with an Optima Red Top.

MacGuyverized the bumper so cluth is accesible from on top as is the controller box.

I use a wireless remote whenever possible... I like the security/safety it provides even if only in mindset

Edited to ask: Noted in the pics most of you seem to take added time and effort to spool your cables very neatly. Is there a functionality reason? I just wind mine as fast and easily (lazily) as I can after use.

That cable appears to be spooled neatly because it hasn't been used yet!

Actually, it is important to spool it carefully to prevent the cable from getting stuck inside itself on hard pulls, making it a real pain to unspool the cable without a load. Usually the last wrap of the cable around the drum doesn't need to be neatly/tightly spooled because you typically unwind it for winching anway, but the lower wraps should be tight. In severe cases of loosely wrapped cable, the wire can actually get crimped or damaged.

That would not even help at all, 0%. Dont bother.

This might be equivelent to an ATV winch. I can push our 5500 pound boat when it's on the trailer, so I can't figure 6000 rolling weight would be much help besides pulling a boat onto a trailer from the water.

Pretty much the typical setup Shrock bumper with WARN 9000i and Masterpull Superline synthetic cable.

Battery setup is pretty unique though.

A friend of mine had one, you would think you couls back the trailer 1/2 into the water, and winch the boat up onto it.. no such luck.. Insanely weak, and slow as crap under load.. We did a test in his court.. I gould push his f250 faster then the winch could pull it, on level ground.. Neither me or the winch could drag the truck up his driveway.. If is can't pull a 5k lb truck on a paved incline, I would hate to rely on it to unstuck a truck..

Just scored a great deal on a Warn M8000 to go in the front Shrock. Woo hoo!

Quick question, tho (haven't picked it up yet so haven't read any install instructions).

Any tips for an easy install? Do I need to get any "mounting kit" or does that sucker just bolt on there?

They just pretty much bolt up. The M8000 is a remote solenoid right? If so, shrock sends a mounting bracket for it.

Well the SHrock bumper doesn't come with a mount for solenoid.But you can easily make a bracket like I did and attach it to the winch itself.You can slightly see the bracket I used to mount mine in this pic.

Thanks guys. I pick up the winch tomorrow and the bumper should come in 1-2 weeks; I'm pretty stoked.

One more question, do they give you enough cable to move that solenoid away from the winch a bit? Fabbing up a mount or a plate is no problem, and I'm thinking it would be nice to get it out of the way as much as possible.

My 05 bumper came with a mount that would mount the solenoid on top of the bumper in the center. I have an integrated solenoid so I didn't need it so I have no pics.

I can't speak for all winches but I know mine came with enough to move it away if need be.I mounted mine there cause I'm using the hole that Shroclworks provides on his bumper to plug in my controller.
