I thought I understood all the issues concerning 4wd, but, I'm still a little confused. I'm trucking down the snow and ice covered freeway in 4wd doing 40-50 miles per hour. (maybe less) I hit a long patch of dry road. What are my alternatives? Also, what exactly does the 4wd light on the dash tell me? If I switch to 2wd even though my hubs are still locked will it go out? In other words, is it telling me I am in either 4wd or 2wd no matter what the current position of the hubs? I assume the clicking noise I hear when my hubs lock and unlock are normal? Is this how you tell if the hubs have engaged or disengaged?
